‘No pressure on me, I already lifted five trophies with Orlando Pirates’

Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has declared himself fit to face Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 final on Saturday.

The 29-year-old defender returned to training following an injury which kept him out for nearly a month. Having joined the Buccaneers in 2022 from Golden Arrows, Sibisi has won five trophies and made over 50 appearances for the Sea Robbers

Before the start of the season, Orlando Pirates named the 29-year-old defender as their new captian following the retirement of Innocent Maela.

“It’s good to be back. It’s never easy when you are injured. In terms of being ready for selection, yes, I am ready for selection. I have been training with the guys, so it’s good to be back,” Sibisi told the media.

“It’s always special to lift a trophy. Lifting it for the fourth time will be special, not only for the club and the players but for the supporters as well,” he added.

“There will be no pressure on me personally – I’ve already won five trophies with the club; this is not about me but about the group. Every final is special, and hopefully this one will be memorable for all the players and the club,” Sibisi said.

During Sibisi’s absence, young Mbekezeli Mbokazi was made Orlando Pirates captain in the past six matches.

Should Sibisi start during the final?
