Former Orlando Pirates winger Mohau Nkota has scored on debut in his side’s 2-1 win over Al-Kholood on Thursday evening.
Nkota, 19, joined El-Ettifaq ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and had a dream debut, scoring his side’s first goal of the season after just seven minutes.
The visitors equalised after 36 minutes, but former Liverpool midfeilder Georginio Wijnaldum regained Ettifaq’s lead in the 61st minute.
Nkota almost completed a brace but his attempt in the 82nd minute only hit the outside of the post.
Nkota’s fine strike didn’t only help his side kick off with three points, his overall performance also saw him receive a 8.1 rating on Sofascore – the highest among any player on the pitch.
Al-Ettifaq next face Pitso Mosimane’s former side Al Ahli, who have won the AFL Champions League last season.
