Nkota placed on transfer list? Potential return to Pirates
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Bafana Bafana head coach has revealed that Mohau Nkota is currently back in South Africa following the death of his father.

The 21-year-old winger has struggled for form with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq and it seems the death of his father a few weeks ago may have taken an emotional toll on him.

Broos was asked why the ex-Orlando Pirates was not featured in his squad to face Panama and the Belgian coach felt Nkota was not in a good space.

“When you talk about Mohau Nkota, I think it’s been a very sad period for the moment. Four weeks ago, I think, he lost his father,” said Broos on SABC Sport.

“He lost also his position in the team in Saudi Arabia. Psychologically, he’s not really in good shape. I think it would be not good from our side to take him with the team and ask for performances.”

Broos says it was better to leave out Nkota

Nkota has struggled to find form in Saudi Arabia, which led to reports linking him with an exit this summer. Broos however, feels the winger should be left with family.

“You know how people are [if he can’t perform]. This is a young guy; he’s not an experienced player. Experienced players [can deal with that].

“But for him, he has, first of all, the death of his father. Secondly, he has to win again the position in his team. Therefore, I think it’s better now that we leave him with his family,” the Bafana coach.

Broos revealed Nkota was still in South Africa having spoken to him recently.

“He’s in South Africa, I had him on the phone call. We leave him there, that he’s coming to peace again. I know with the talent he has that we see him back in a few months.”

Will Nkota make the World Cup squad?
