Bafana Bafana defender Siyabonga Ngezana has shared the warning that head coach Hugo Broos issued to the team before their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.
The match between South Africa and Likuena is scheduled for Friday, 5 September, at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, with both teams vying for maximum points.
Broos’ troops will be looking to make it a double over Lesotho having beaten them 2-0 in the first round in March at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium earlier this year.
Ngezana revealed that Broos has cautioned the team against taking Lesotho for granted, urging them to show their opponents the respect they deserve.
“Yeah, I agree with the coach, we don’t have to underestimate our opponents, we need to respect them,” said Ngezana.
“We need to respect them and show on the pitch. I think Lesotho have a great squad and familiar faces that play in the PSL.
“And it won’t just be a walk in the park. They have the experience of PSL, which is most of our players play in this league, so it’s gonna be a competitive game.
“We need to bring our A game and I have so much confidence in the squad because the players we have, have proven before that we can compete.”
Following the Lesotho clash, Bafana will welcome Nigeria in the same venue on Tuesday, 9 September.
