Ngezana Injury Update Ahead Of AFCON

Posted on December 10, 2025

Bafana Bafana defender Siyabonga Ngezana limped off the pitch with an injury in the Romanian Derby between FCSB and Dinamo Bucaresti over the weekend.

The 28-year-old South African international has been the pillar of the FCSB defence in the past two seasons and was voted best foreign defender.

But this season, things haven’t been the same with FCSB also not doing well. Despite the poor performances from FCSB, Ngezana managed to make the Bafana Bafana 25-man squad that will be participating in the AFCON.

The worrying factor is that Ngezana could only play 45 minutes in FCSB’s goalless draw against their archrivals Dinamo Bucaresti.

FCSB general manager Mihai Stoica explained that the Bafana defender was substituted due to an injury. Ngezana is expected to play his last game on Thursday when FCSB face Netherlands side Feyenoord FC in the Europa League before joining Hugo Broos’ side in camp.

“His knee hurt and he couldn’t continue. He went to therapy this morning, let’s see if he can play on Thursday,” Stoica told Fanatik.
