Ngcobo – We Have Shown We Can Beat Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo says they are in a buoyant mood as a squad and have shown in the past they are capable of beating Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 25-year-old has become an ever-present figure in Chiefs again, after struggling with form and game time at the start of the previous season – slotting into a role alongside Thabo Cele.

However, he admits he’s still looking for improvement, as he’s now playing in deeper midfield role than the 10 and inverted midfield roles from wide he used to be fielded in earlier in his career.

“We’re preparing well, as we do for all games, we’re ready to go… as footballer we’re always looking to improve, it’s what I’ve been working for, to improve my game and I’ve seen it, I’m happy,” Ngcobo said ahead of the game.

“I think with the previous game we have shown we can beat Sundowns – so I think the game plan worked very well in our last game against them, we just have to continue with our game plan,” Ngcobo said.

“We know Sundowns is a team that likes to have the ball, so for us, it’s to defend well and makes sure we do hurt them when we get our chances.”

Ngcobo has racked up 109 appearances for Chiefs since his promotion from the academy with eight goals and three assists to his name.
