Next Time I’ll Get Him – Arubi On Appollis Penalty

Posted on January 1, 2026

Zimbabwe goalkeeper Washington Arubi admits that Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis was clever in placing his penalty beyond him but says he’ll be up for the challenge next time.

The Marumo Gallants shotstopper has been doing duty between the sticks for the Warriors at the ongoing Africa Cup on Nations in Morocco featuring in all three outings as they lost 2-1 to Egypt, drew 1-1 with Angola and went down 3-2 to Bafana.

The 40-year-old says he was surprised by how Appollis changed his penalty tactic at the very last second.

“Yeah, he was a bit clever because I know he doesn’t usually put the ball there,” he said.

“You can see, I think he changed at the last second. He was also clever.

“It was good to him but next time I’ll get him.”
