NEW Kaizer Chiefs captain confirmed by Inacio Miguel

Posted on August 26, 2025

Inacio Miguel was named as Kaizer Chiefs’ captain for the 2025/26 campaign.

Miguel was understood to have taken over from Yusuf Maart who left the club at the end of last season.

The towering Angolan international however has confirmed that he’ll be passing the captaincy armband over to one of his teammates.

According to Inacio Miguel, Zitha Kwinika will be the Kaizer Chiefs captain whenever he’s on the field of play.

In simple terms, when Kwinika is playing, he’s the captain even if Miguel is on the field of play.

And when Kwinika is not playing, Inacio Miguel will lead the Glamour Boys.

In Kaizer Chiefs’ previous match against Richards Bay, Kwinika was brought in early on to replace the injured Aden McCarthy. He was immediately given the captain’s armband by Miguel in the 36th minute of the match.

“I will always say that Zitha for me is our ‘madala’, our captain. I had no instructions to give the armband to Zitha but I felt he deserved it,” Miguel said as quoted by Citizen.

“He has a big history at Kaizer Chiefs and I respect him for that. From last season his level never dropped. The younger generation also have to look at him as a role model and a hard worker.

“Consistent players also look good in bad moments. I don’t know the squad on Wednesday but if Zitha plays I will give him the armband.”
