Nemtajela – Why Ouaddou And I Understand Each Other

Posted on December 14, 2025

Orlando Pirates midfielder Masindi Nemtajela has spoken about the strong understanding he shares with coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Both Nemtajela and Ouaddou arrived at the Buccaneers before the season kicked off, continuing the relationship they had built at Marumo Gallants last campaign.

After finding game time hard to come by early in the season, Nemtajela has gradually worked his way into the Pirates lineup and has featured 14 times in all competitions.

Nemtajela believes Ouaddou has a deeper understanding of his game because of the time they spent together at Gallants last season.

“I worked with him last season, so we are able to understand each other,” said Nemtajela.

“So, because of the belief he has in me, I try by all means to give back so he can trust me even more.”

Of the 14 matches Nemtajela has featured in, he has completed the full 90 minutes in eight of them, including the Carling Knockout Cup final—where he stayed on despite receiving a yellow card.

“Getting a yellow card [in the Carling Knockout final], I raised hand to him [thinking he was going to sub me off],” he added.

“But he called me and asked me to play safe since I had a yellow card. Hence, I was able to finish the game.”
