Ndah On Nigeria’s WC No Show

Posted on December 12, 2025

Orlando Pirates centre-back Olisa Ndah has revealed how gutted his Nigerian teammates were upon failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be staged in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

The Super Eagles finished second in the World Cup qualifiers behind Bafana Bafana and thus sealed a berth in the CAF World Cup playoff final against the DRC where they succumbed to a 4-3 loss on penalties.

Nigeria will now miss out on world cup participation for the second successive edition and the towering Pirates centre-back admitted that his teammates were down after bowing out.

“I felt so bad imagine me not being able to be there with the guys,” Ndah told Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified.

“I had a conversation with a couple of the guys there and they were so down.

“I think the beginning phase of the qualifiers; we didn’t do well at all to be honest. We had those conversations [drawing at home to Lesotho], so yeah, we picked up late.

“Right now, we’re just focused on the AFCON, go to AFCON and just do our best and let’s see.”
