Ndah On Mbokazi’s Pirates Exit

Posted on December 10, 2025

Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah has admitted that the club will miss America-bound Mbekezeli Mbokazi however they are all pleased for his move.

Mbokazi signed a four-year deal with MLS side Chicago Fire and will join the side in January. He leaves having been promoted to the first team at the beginning of this year, co-captaining Pirates alongside Nkosinathi Sibisi and lifting a trophy [Carling knockout Cup] as skipper last weekend.

Speaking on Sports Night Live With Andile Ncube (SNLWA) on Monday, the Nigerian defender spoke about TLB’s quality, his naughty character and the difference the 20-year-old made in Pirates’ defence.

“It’s a very big loss for us but for him personally it’s growth in his career,” said Ndah.

“I think we all love him, you know from the first time I watched him playing in the DDC. He’s very funny. You don’t know how funny he is, like he’s troublesome.

“He’s always looking for trouble, looking for me or [Makhehleni] Makhaula or someone. He’s always looking for trouble but that’s the vibe he gives.

“The whole team we all love him and obviously it’s going to be a big miss for us because I think since he stepped in, he’s been playing, he’s been doing wonderfully well.

“For me personally, I said this the last time he’s the best center-back in the country at the moment. For me he’s the best and you can see why. We’ve conceded less goals, I think five goals. It’s not just him; it’s the whole team.

“It’s going to be a big miss for us, but I think the goal is still the same you know we are happy for him. It’s growth for him and his family and I think going forward we just have to keep the same momentum.

“You can see there’s been changes in the backline like you said and you can see every game he did play we managed to pull a clean sheet here and there. That shows in the team and the quality in the team.

“So, I think from even when Sibisi or [Thabiso] Sesane who’s back now, steps in, there’s a lot of players in the team I’m confident.”
