‘Ndaba will make us forget about Hotto’ – Pirates legend

Posted on November 6, 2025

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Benedict “Tso” Vilakazi has praised Nkosikhona Ndaba’s performance against Golden Arrows.

The 23-year-old defender was signed from Richards Bay this season and has already impressed in the few matches he played for the Buccaneers.

With Abdeslam Ouaddou opting to bench regular left-back Deon Hotto, it was Ndaba’s chance to impress the Moroccan coach. He was involved in the opening goal of the match, which ultimately was given as an own goal.

Speaking on iDiski TV, the Pirates legend said Ndaba was likely to bench veteran left-back Deon Hotto this season.

“If Ndaba continues the way he’s currently playing, we will forget about Hotto. I like how he positions himself at the back. The build-up and how he supports in that space where Moremi cuts in,” Vilakazi said.

“If he continues the way he played tonight, I don’t think we will be crying for Hotto. Im telling you,

Tso said he was encouraged by Ndaba’s performance, especially how he was involved in Orlando Pirates’ first goal.

Do you think Ndaba should be Pirates’ first-choice left-back?

There have been questions about Hotto’s performance this season. The Namibian has been inconsistent this campaign, with many fans calling for Ouaddou to give him a rest until he rediscover his mojo.

After a Man of the Match performance, Ndaba is likely to start for Orlando Pirates this weekend against his old club, Richards Bay. The Buccaneers play in the semi-final of the Carling Knockout, hoping to reach their third successive domestic final.

Do you think Ndaba is better than Hotto?
