Nasreddine Nabi breaks silence on Kaizer Chiefs situation

Posted on September 18, 2025

Nasreddine Nabi has opened up on his situation at Kaizer Chiefs amidst a storm of varying reports.

One day after his side’s first defeat of the season, news emerged that the Tunisian mentor had parted ways with the Glamour Boys.

Initial reports claimed Nabi was due to step-down as head coach and return back home to look after his ill wife.

Nabi confirms departure from Kaizer Chiefs

Then came the storm. Veteran journalist Mazola Molefe claimed the coach was sacked due to not having the correct coaching qualifications to coach in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Molefe’s reports were later debunked, with the coach having already coached in both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup previously.

Kaizer Chiefs are yet to provide any update on the matter, leaving many fans confused.

Finally, the coach himself has shed some light on the situation.

“My separation from Kaizer Chiefs was a mutual agreement with the club’s management, following a successful and challenging experience,” Nabi said as quoted by Citizen in reference to WinWin.

“Currently, I need some time to rest, focus more on my family, and monitor my wife’s health, which has required me to be by her side over the past period.

“Indeed, several major African and Arab clubs have contacted me. But I will not enter into any negotiations at this time. My priority is to take a temporary break and get some rest.”

Nabi’s record at Naturena

In total, Nasreddine Nabi took charge of 35 matches at Kaizer Chiefs. His record stands at 12 victories, nine draws and 14 losses.

He’ll go down in the club’s history as the coach to end their lengthy trophy drought. Nabi won the Nedbank Cup in his maiden season at the club.

Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze are due to take charge of the team with immediate effect.
