Mothwa Set For New Club After AmaZulu Exit

Former AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa is poised to finalise a move to Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The South Africa international goalkeeper left Usuthu upon the expiry of his contract after five years with the club, where he featured 124 times and part of the squad that finished second in the league in the 2020/21 season to qualify for the CAF Champions League.

However, his game time was limited with only seven appearances last season, eventually leading to his exit and Tuks have now secured his services as they look towards his experience to help lead a youthful ambitious group of players led by new head coach Kwanele Kopo.

Mothwa featured for Tuks in their pre-season clash against Nsingizini Hotspurs this week, while the likes of Siyanda Msani and Luvuyo Phewa is also touted to be part of the squad next season.

He arrives with extensive international experience as well, having been part of the Bafana Bafana set-up since 2021 and amassing 10 caps.
