Motaung delighted with progress under Chiefs’ co-coaches

Posted on November 11, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has expressed his delight with the progress made under interim co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.

The former Amakhosi striker praised their duo for their experience and calm leadership since taking charge in September.

Ben Youssef and Kaze were appointed to steady the ship following the departure of Nasreddine Nabi, guiding Amakhosi to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages while also improving performances in domestic competitions.

Motaung feels Ben Youssef and Kaze can take Chiefs forward

Motaung Jr believes the pair’s extensive experience in African football will be key to the club’s continental ambitions.

“Very much so, we will lean on their experience,” he said as per iDiski Times.

“They have gone all the way to the final, travelled, and got the battle scars from the continent. And in this tournament, experience is important, on and off the pitch. We’re privileged to have them; they have walked the journey. We’re just excited to see how they navigate this one.”

Ben Youssef and Kaze have both coached at continental level before, with deep knowledge of the challenges that come with competing across Africa.

Their experience appears to be paying off, with Chiefs showing signs of tactical discipline and renewed confidence in the past few matches.

Motaung Jr said the current Chiefs technical team understood what it took to succeed in CAF competitions.

“They’ve been there before, and that counts for a lot. We believe in the project and what this group can achieve,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to build on this momentum as they prepare for their first group-stage match later this month.
