Kaizer Chiefs new signing Flavio Silva has come under pressure before even making his official debut for the club, but Commercial and Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has urged supporters to be patient.
The 29-year-old striker was lured to the club from Indonesia, where he plied his trade for Persik and Persebaya over the past three seasons, scoring 39 games with nine assists in 78 games in all competitions.

Prior to his move to Asia, he’s had a bit of a nomadic career since his time in the Sporting Lisbon development set-up, with stints at Torreense, Benfica B, SC Covilhã, San Antonio, União Madeira, Mafra, Alverca, Real SC, Amora and Mondercange.
His signing was initially met with optimism but after his showing in the Netherlands, the club’s supporters have had a mixed reception as they seek a proven goalscorer in the 2025/26 campaign.
“My take on the players, this is pre-season… players have to be given a chance, whether they are coming from the youth or coming from other teams, or other places,” she said.
“It’s important to be given a chance to really get to know the team, get to know the different players they are playing with… So, I think our supporters need to give it time, the proof is in the pudding, let the players go on the pitch and do the work as the season progresses.”
The Guinea-Bissau-born Portuguese striker will be aiming to make an impression this weekend when Chiefs host Asante Kotoko in the 2025 Toyota Cup at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
