Monnapule Saleng could return to Orlando Pirates… But

Posted on January 6, 2026

Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng could potentially return to the club before his loan spell with Orbit College ends in June.

The 28-year-old has been in good form for Orbit this season, scoring twice and providing three assists in the Betway Premiership.

The talented attacker was loaned out before the start of the season after struggling to find game time at Pirates due to off-field incidents. He rediscovered his groove this camapign, which has led to some fans to be hopeful of his return to the Buccaneers.

Saleng could return to Orlando Pirates but…

Pirates fans have been divided on the player returning to the club before his loan spell ends. Under Abdeslan Ouaddou, the Buccaneers have dominated the league and cup competitions thanks to great signings such as Tshepang Moremi and Oswin Appollis.

If Saleng returns in January, he might find it difficult to break into the team. Currently, he is happy where he is and seems to be enjoying football again.

While some fans feel the club should release Monnapule once and for all, others want their star to return and help them achieve further success this season.

@popomosarwane wrote: “Bring Saleng from Loan. We are definitely winning quadruple.”

@BuccaneerRsa wrote: “Khoza must forgive Lorch and Saleng. We need those boys back in the squad.”

@AFootyFanSA wrote: “Deep down I want him back for the remainder of the season. His presence is crucial if we’re serious about dethroning Sundowns.”

Fans divided on Monnapule Saleng

@Calidonny wrote: “Pirates history proves one thing: no individual is bigger than the club. The talented Leremi and Oupa Manyesa were sold, and we were okay. Modise left – trebles followed. Lorch left – trophies followed. We’re in a good space now. I love Saleng, but it’s time to close that chapter at Orlando Pirates.”

Where should Saleng go next?
