Mofokeng – What I Have Learnt From AFCON

Posted on January 7, 2026

Bafana Bafana player Relebohile Mofokeng has shared the lessons he gained from his debut AFCON tournament.

Mofokeng played his first major tournament with Bafana, having made his debut for the national team in June 2024 during the World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe at Free State Stadium.

The 21-year-old featured as a substitute in the group stage match against Egypt before starting in the Round of 16 against Cameroon, where Bafana Bafana were knocked out.

Mofokeng says he has gained invaluable experience from playing alongside some of the world’s top players.

He also feels he has learned a lot about the number 10 role, which his club Orlando Pirates recently introduced him to, and says he knows where he needs to improve.

“I have taken a lot from this AFCON. You see there are best players here, so I think I’m learning a lot from them,” said Mofokeng.

“I take home a lot of things like when a player is playing in the number 10 position a forward player, scores and assists.

“I have learned a lot of things, and I know where to improve when I get home like as a forward player you must assist you must score those are the things I’m taking.”
