Mofokeng On Much-Debated Bafana Number 10 Role

Posted on January 4, 2026

Relebohile Mofokeng has spoken out about chances of playing the highly debated Bafana Bafana number 10 role at AFCON.

Many haven’t been impressed with the Bafana playmaker Sipho Mbule, who received criticism for not offering the team much in the group stages, particularly in the first two matches against Angola and Egypt.

Mofokeng is another option available to Hugo Broos, having featured in the role for Orlando Pirates in a few matches before AFCON.

The 21-year-old came off the bench to play 22 minutes on the left wing for Bafana in the match against Egypt.

Mofokeng says he is ready to seize the chance to help Bafana in the number 10 role if the opportunity comes his way.

“Before I came here, I was playing in the number 10 position [at Pirates] but I think if a chance [to play 10 in the Bafana team] presents itself, I will use it because I want to play, I want to contribute to the country winning and doing well,” said Mofokeng.

“So, wherever I play I want to do what is in my heart and be able to give the country what it wants.”
