Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng says he will take his chances to impress with a view of attracting overseas interest.
The 21-year-old has been subject of plenty of transfer speculation as one of the rising talents in African football, with nine senior caps to his name and 106 games for Pirates where he’s emerged a key figure in squad over the past three seasons.
His return of 19 goals and 25 assists from midfield has made him one of the most effective and eye-catching performers in the South African top-flight and a potential move abroad is not far-fetched as he looks to replicate the likes of Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi – that emerged from the club’s reserve team.
Nkota landed a move to the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ettifaq, while Mbokazi is set to join Chicago Fire after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, showcasing the possibilities for young talent coming through at the Buccaneers.
“Yeah, I think if something can be available for me, if I get the chance somewhere in another country, I can maybe go somewhere, I think it could be a very good move,” Mofokeng said.
“I think playing this tournament is very important in that case also, so when I get a chance [to impress] I just have to grab it.”
Mofokeng has featured in just one game out of the three at AFCON, coming on a substitute in the 1-0 defeat against Egypt in Agadir.
