Modiba Raring To Restart League Action

Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Aubrey Modiba is upbeat and ready to resume action in the Betway Premiership and on a high.

The defending champions currently occupy second position on the league standings with 26 points in 13 outings, two points from log leaders Orlando Pirates, who have played a game less. Sundowns welcome rookies Orbit College to the Lucas Moripe Stadium in their first match of the year on Monday evening.

Orbit are in 13th position with 13 points from 14 matches and two points from the relegation zone.

Upbeat as he is and wanting maximum points for his side Modiba believes Orbit won’t be pushovers.

“It’s good to be back in the league we haven’t competed this year in the league” Modiba told the Sundowns media department.

“It’s going to be an interesting game against Orbit, the team that we never played against. But you know we’ve been watching them we know how they play. We are going to watch a few of their games as well in the PSL.”

“They are going to give us a tough time but you know no game is easy in the PSL. But I think we are going to make sure that we do well for ourselves and for our supporters. Every game is important at Sundowns so it’s going to be very important three points for us, and we are ready for the game.”

The South Africa international also reiterated his joy around the new signing of Monnapule Saleng, who spent the first six months of the season on loan at Orbit.

“We know what Saleng has done for Orbit College” added the Postman.

“He was a very good player for them and I’m just happy with the signing as well, with the team because you know what he can do, capable of doing, what he has done in the previous teams. It’s a good addition to the team, and we’re looking forward to play with him and hopefully he can help us in the second round of the league. So yeah, we’re just happy to have him.”

“Very first game of the year 2026 we want to start on a high against a very tough side, like Orbit. Very important game for us to start well and our supporters to come in numbers and you know, be behind us like they’ve been doing in the in the league.”
