Kaizer Chiefs captain Inacio Miguel says there’s no time and place to complain – but need to deliver in their 1st leg clash against AS Simba in DR Congo.
Chiefs take on the Linafoot side at the Stade TP Mazembe, a ground known to be a fortress in Congolese football, a small pitch, intimidating atmosphere, hostile conditions, extreme weather conditions and an artificial surface.
It’s the first leg of the second preliminary round qualifiers for the CAF Confederation Cup – with a place in the group stages on the line.
“It’s a bit complicated but there’s no time to complain about the weather or the pitch, it’s time to focus on our mission, we’ve come here [to Congo] with a goal, so our focus right now is to win on Saturday,” Miguel said.
“We learned from our mistakes [in Angola], it’s part of the process, we understand what we did wrong in the first round, we can’t make those same mistakes, we’re focused on coming back with a win to be more relaxed for the second leg. And with that we’re going to need hard work, commitment and I think all of us are prepared for that.”
The Angolan defender, whose side ousted Girabola outfit Kabuscorp in the first round says they know what they will be up against and will be prepared accordingly.
“We know Simba are very physical, they play in a small stadium, so many long balls, duels, we are ready for that – we are working on it, and we will do it,” he concluded.
The fixture will kick off on Saturday at 15h00 in Lubumbashi.
