Posted on September 18, 2025

South Africa national U-20 head coach Raymond Mdaka has named his final 21-man squad for the upcoming 2025 U-20 FIFA World Cup in Chile.

In the build-up to this announcement, 30 players were named in the preliminary squad and called up to a recent camp in the past FIFA international break.

The likes of Mbekezeli Mbokazi was hotly debated over whether he should form part of the team, having already graduated to the senior national team and playing in World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria, while Shandre Campbell was also a question mark, after missing the U20 Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Egypt.

Both the Orlando Pirates and Club Brugge attacker is not part of the squad, while Musa Masemola, Gopolong Taunyane, Simphewe Selepe, Kgomotso Madiba, Faiz Abrahams, Gabriel Amato, Naledi Hlongwane and Thato Mpati did not make the final cut.

he tournament will take place between 27 September and 20 October 2025, with South Africa in Group E alongside United States of America (USA), France and New Caledonia.
