MC Alger Star Defends Rulani Against Alleged Leak

Posted on February 14, 2026

MC Alger midfielder Chahreddine Boukholda has defended his head coach, Rulani Mokwena, against allegations of Mamelodi Sundowns tactics being leaked to him ahead of their CAF Champions League meeting.

The two sides are set to face off in their Matchday Six tie on Saturday afternoon at Loftus Versfeld at 3 pm.

Ahead of the match, there has been significant controversy, with Sundowns analyst Mario Masha suspended pending an investigation after it was reported that he allegedly shared team information and tactics with his former colleague, Mokwena.

Mokwena refuted the claims, saying that he and the club’s technical team work hard together to analyse opponents and would not risk someone’s career for his own benefit.

Echoing the sentiment, the team’s key player, Boukholda, also defended Mokwena, saying he works hard to help them win matches and would not need outside assistance to do so.

“He’s a very humble coach, that’s what I can say,” said Boukholda.

“So, winning the last two games, it’s because of him, he loves the game. He’s crazy about the game, he loves the game so much.

“He doesn’t sleep, all his life is football. He’s giving a lot to us, with advice, helping us a lot to get results.

“I wanna say something I know, I don’t know if I should say it. It’s a rumour that I heard now.

“The coach and the technical team don’t need anyone external to advise him on any game that we won. You can see his impact on those games.

“That’s my humble opinion, I’m absolutely delighted to be here in the country of my coach and the staff.”
