The player was welcomed by the club’s Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr at the Club’s headquarters in Naturena on Friday, and could not hide his excitement describing his move, unpacking how it feels to join “the biggest team in the country”.

“It is a dream come true. The only team I would come back for is Kaizer Chiefs, he told the club’s media.

“The Club has a great history. My father is part of that great history, so I wanted to play for the biggest team in the country, in Africa, in the world, I can say, because Kaizer Chiefs is the biggest team in the world to me.”

Mayo is the son of Amakhosi legend Patrick Mayo and joins an exclusive group of players whose fathers once wore the famous Gold & Black jersey.
