Mayele exit looms, new striker targeted

Kaizer Chiefs continue their search for a lethal striker following their European pre-season.

Congolese striker Fiston Mayele, a former Chiefs target, is reportedly desperate for a move away from Egyptian giants Pyramids FC, but his preferred destination isn’t Soweto. Mayele played a pivotal role in Pyramids lifting their first-ever CAF Champions League trophy this season but is now eyeing a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

Egyptian football journalist Ahmed Shobeir revealed, “Mayele is close to leaving Pyramids after receiving a very lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. The club was surprised to let go of one of their top scorers, but the player is determined to leave.”

New opportunity blossoms

Kaizer Chiefs’ quest for a top striker continues. Cameroonian forward Ravel Djoumekou, currently with Congo’s FC Saint Eloi Lupopo, has been offered to Chiefs. Sources say the club’s scouting and analytics team is evaluating him.

“He is an experienced striker who could really help Chiefs at this stage,” one insider said. “The decision depends on the technical team and whether they believe he fits the squad’s needs.”

Another source confirmed Chiefs are still looking at several players. The club is determined to finalise a balanced squad capable of competing on all fronts, especially in the CAF Confederation Cup.

With six new signings already made this offseason, Chiefs’ management appears ready to back the coach’s call for one more experienced striker. The upcoming weeks will likely reveal if Djoumekou or another target will be added before the season kicks off.

Who do you think Kaizer Chiefs should sign up front?
