Man of the match in first start

Posted on September 28, 2025

Nuno Santos wasted no time making an impact for Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old star joined early last week from Portugal’s top-flight side Vitória Guimarães SC for a reported fee of R20 million.

After making his debut as a substitute against Golden Arrows last week, the Portuguese attacking midfielder was handed his first start against Richards Bay, and the result was a Man of the Match award.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STAR NUNO SANTOS CREDITS HIS TEAMMATES

In accepting his award after the game, Santos credited his teammates, including his Portuguese and Spanish-speaking teammates, Arthur Melo from Brazil and Marcelo Allende from Chile, with helping him settle quickly.

“Everybody, not just Arthur and Marcelo, everybody welcomed me the best way, the perfect way. I want to thank them all for that,” Nuno told SuperSport TV.

“Now I have to adapt as much as I can, as fast as I can so I can get the best of me,” he added.

Meanwhile, another new Portuguese star is nearing his Sundowns debut. On Friday, the Betway Premiership announced Miguel Reisinho’s arrival on a free transfer. The 26-year-old left-footed central midfielder left Portuguese club Boavista in July.

Reisinho played 30 times in the Liga Portugal last term and scored five goals. 14 of his appearances were in central midfield, while also playing nine in attacking midfield, six in right midfield and one in right midfield.

Reisinho could make his debut for Kabo Yellow this coming Saturday at home to Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout last 16.
