Mamelodi Sundowns starlet set for exit? Twist in future revealed

Posted on July 18, 2025

Mamelodi Sundowns have shown no signs of slowing down as they trim their squad following their historic eighth consecutive league title. The club made headlines by releasing several players, including Sipho Mbule, Rivaldo Coetzee, Lebohang Maboe, Sifiso Ngobeni, Thabang Sibanyoni, Sanele Tshabalala, and Lucas Suarez.

Now, a source suggests that young talent Ntando Nkosi could be the next name cut from the Tshwane side’s large squad.

Nkosi facing uncertain future amid competition

A source revealed that 21-year-old Nkosi, who joined the senior team in the 2022/2023 season, may soon leave either on loan or via a permanent transfer. The technical team sees potential in the attacking midfielder. But the depth of quality at Chloorkop has left him struggling for game time.

“The club believes that the youngster has a great future. But the competition at the club is tough and they are believed to be looking at giving him more game time away from the club. At the moment, they are looking at either loaning him or selling him outright. But it’s believed he is not in the coach’s plans as things stand,” a source said.

Strong interest from local clubs for prospect

Nkosi hasn’t gone unnoticed. Clubs from both the Betway Premiership and the Motsepe Foundation Championship have reportedly shown interest in securing his services.

“It is believed that he is not short of suitors whether on a permanent deal or even on loan. But there have been enquiries for Ntando (Nkosi). It’s just unfortunate that he can’t play more regularly at Sundowns. And it’s believed that a move away from Sundowns could be beneficial for the player’s growth,” the source concluded.

What’s next for Sundowns’ prodigy Nkosi?

Despite his talent and promotion to the first team, Nkosi has struggled to break into Sundowns’ dominant starting XI. A move away, whether temporary or permanent, now looks like a crucial step in his development.

Should Mamelodi Sundowns keep, release, loan or permanently sell Nkosi?
