Makhoye Talks Up Saleng’s Bafana Chances

Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye firmly believes that Monnapule Saleng’s improved form could secure him a return to Bafana Bafana.

Saleng scored his first goal this season in the colours of Orbit when they downed Richards Bay 2-1 in the Betway Premiership at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Friday evening.

After the game, Makhoye said he would be happy to have at least three players in the national team, believing that winning four or five matches in a row would draw Hugo Broos’ attention to them.

“I just told them now in the dressing room that South Africa has qualified for the World Cup,” Makhoye said to the reporters after the match.

“Now, this is a chance for them to be recognised. My dream is to have about three players in the national team.

“To do that, we need to win five games in a row for people to start taking us serious. They will want to know what’s special about this team.

“Now, it’s a tough mountain to climb. But we’re trying to say let’s try and win four in a row, maybe Broos will start saying what’s special about this team.”

Makhoye then switched his focus to Saleng, saying he has a chance to revive his national team chances, if he manages to find a good run of form.

“I’m happy about Saleng, the performance is coming, it also increases chances for him to go back to the national team,” he continued.
