Makhoye Makes Saleng Admission – iDiski Times

Posted on February 3, 2026

Orbit College head coach Pogiso Makhoye has admitted he was caught by surprise when Monnapule Saleng was sold to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Saleng was loaned out by Pirates to Orbit at the beginning of the season as he looked to revive his career after spending half of the previous season on the sidelines under Jose Riveiro.

The 27-year-old became the pillar of Mswenko Boys where he scored two goals and contributed with three assists in 11 games.

Makhoye always mentioned that they are building the team around him and mentioned that they were planning the game against Sundowns around Saleng.

‪“Saleng was a surprise, it happened so quick we didn’t expect it and when we heard Saleng has been sold to Mamelodi Sundowns and the game plan was around him,” he told the media.

“So, we had to find a way to play without him we struggled [against Sundowns] because our game plan was around Saleng and Makhaba.”

Late last year, iDiski Times reported that Mswenko Boys are edging closer to completing the signing of Ben Motshwari who was a free agent after leaving AmaZulu and Makhoye believes he can add experience to his side.

“Yes, Ben [Motswari] is training with us, he is looking sharp with the experience I think he will assist us,” he added.

“Ben is training with us and I think he will assist the team. We need a player like him.”
