Makgopa On Pirates New Defender – ‘We Have a Gem’

Orlando Pirates striker Evidence Makgopa has spoken glowingly of the club’s new signing Nkosikhona Ndaba, who arrived this transfer window.

The left-back signed for the Buccaneers in the off-season from Richards Bay, coming in following the exits of Innocent Maela and Paseka Mako from that position.

Ndaba is now competing with Deon Hotto, whose natural position is left-winger but has been used in the left-back role for some time.

Having seen Ndaba playing up close, Makgopa has praised the defender, saying the club signed a “gem” when he was asked to pick a signing that has impressed him the most.

“For me, I was never familiar with Ndaba’s game,” said Makgopa during the club’s media open day on Tuesday at Rand Stadium.

“I hadn’t even watched his games, but after seeing him, I knew here we have a gem.”

So far, Ndaba has made only one appearance at Pirates when he featured in the Betway Premiership match against Orbit College, playing 45 minutes. He was also an unused substitute in four league matches.
