Major ‘Pitso Mosimane to Mamelodi Sundowns’ development

Posted on January 6, 2026

Mamelodi Sundowns and Pitso Mosimane are reportedly in ‘advanced talks’…

Masandawana have been blowing hot and cold this season under Miguel Cardoso.

The fact that they’re not top of the log at Christmas tells you all you need to know.

Despite being second in the league, the standard at Chloorkop is such that the alarm bells are ringing! Their cup performances have also left much to be desired.

And with one eye on winning the league, and another one winning the CAF Champions League, Sundowns are reportedly ready to part ways with Cardoso!

Mosimane linked with shock Mamelodi Sundowns return

Five years on after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, Pitso Mosimane could soon find himself back at the club!

According to the latest reports, the serial winning South African coach is in advanced talks to replace Carodos at his former side.

Reputable local publication FARPost broke the news claiming a surprise return is on the cards for Jingles.

“Pitso Mosimane, the man who transformed Mamelodi Sundowns into a continental powerhouse, is in advanced talks for a sensational return to Chloorkop. The Tshwane giants are on the verge of severing ties with Miguel Cardoso,” the publication said on X (Formerly Twitter)

Mosimane’s previous stint at Masandawana

Mosimane spent over eight years at Mamelodi Sundowns FC. He guided the club to 11 major trophies including the CAF Champions League title.

He eventually left the club as a hero in 2020 when he joined Egyptian giants Al Ahly. After his departure however is when things went sour.

His agency’s legal battle with Sundowns stole the headlines and the fallout was well publicised.

Now, peace has reportedly been made paving the way towards a potential return to the club.
