Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe is extremely happy to return to his boyhood club Kaizer Chiefs.
Maboe, 32, spent seven years at Sundowns and won seven league titles. The 30-year-old scored the famous hat-trick in the 2019/20 season, winning the league for Sundowns on the last day of the season.
The former Maritzburg United midfielder grew up in the Chiefs development before going for greener pastures. After over 15 years Maboe returned to Amakhosi and was represented in front their home supporters at FNB Stadium.
He is yet to make his debut but explained why he is happy to be back in his boyhood club.
“It’s such an honour and a privilege to be back at home and being with such a big institution like Kaizer Chiefs,” he told local media during the Nedbank multipurpose court handover at Phulong Secondary School in Kwa-Thema, Springs.
“I am glad that I am back home and I want to do well with the team. I want to win silverware with the team.
“It is such a good feeling to be back home and being welcomed the way I was the other night, so I am really looking forward to the season.”
