Lorch Breaks Silence On Wydad Exit

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch has sent a farewell message to Wydad Athletic Club fans after making his second-last game for the club.

Lorch, 32, has secured a big-money move to Libyan giants Al Ittihad but still featured for Wydad in their CAF Champions Confederations Cup win over Maniema Union on Sunday.

After the match, Lorch was visibly emotional, and paid tribute to the club’s leaders.

“First of all I’d like to thank the president of the team for bringing me here,” he stated, as per Pan-Africa Football.

“And I would like to thank the technical team, the coach and my teammates for welcoming me into this team. “I wish them well.

“Coming to the game, I think we played well, especially second half. We had to dig deep to get the three points.

“I think their goalkeeper was Man of the Match – we were supposed to score three goals, but we’re happy we’ve got the three points.”

Lorch is also still available to Wydad in the return fixture in DR Congo next week before completing his move to Al Ittihad.

“Like I said, I would like to thank this team for giving me the opportunity to play – not everyone is getting the opportunity to play for a big team like Wydad,” he added.

“I will take opportunity until I retire, and I wish the team good luck.”
