Lilepo’s form, Kaze joins Burundi and Petersen’s return

Kaizer Chiefs head into the international break in better shape, having won back-to-back league matches for the first time since January.

Wins against Durban City and Magesi FC have put Amakhosi in fourth in the Betway Premiership.

One of the best players in the team this season has been Glody Lilepo. The Congolese has scored seven goals and two assists across all competitions.

Lilepo’s coach Cedric Kaze explains how the forward has been in great form this campaign.

“I believe he is a player with a lot of experience,” said Kaze as per KickOff.

“He is a player that has been in the big clubs. And as well, he is a player with a lot of qualities.

“He is fast, he can play as a striker, he can hold the ball, he can run behind the backline, and as well he is a player who is calm when he is inside the box.”

Lilepo was also instrumental in Amakhosi’s CAF Confederation Cup, scoring crucial goals as they reached the group stages.

“The last game… you don’t find a lot of strikers that can do the movements he does,” said Kaze.

“About the goal he scored [against Durban City], when he took two steps to put himself in a good position and far from the defender.

“That is why the club values him.”

Kaze will not be with Kaizer Chiefs during the FIFA international break. He was called up to join the Burundi national team, and the club permitted him to return to Naturena on 31 March.

In terms of injuries, Amakhosi are set to welcome back their captain, Brandon Petersen. The 31-year-old goalkeeper underwent an operation last month and has reportedly made a full recovery.

Having kept 11 clean sheets, the Kaizer Chiefs leader will look to regain his place in the starting lineup and get his side to third in the Betway Premiership.

How good has Lilepo been?
