Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has distinguished the difference between two Orlando Pirates stars, Sipho Mbule and Relebohile Mofokeng.
Khune represented South Africa’s senior team 93 times between 2008 and 2016 having played at the Olympic, AFCONS and 2010 FIFA World Cup.
His experience at national team level gave him a chance to be able to know what is good and what is not. During the preparation match between Ghana (B) team and Bafana Bafana at Dobsonville Stadium, Khune explained the difference between Mofokeng playing as a number 10 and Sipho Mbule. He also broke down their qualities in the position.
“Rele is more a player that can pick a pass, there’s a situation where Rele wanted to chip the ball to the far post instead of him try to take a shot. The difference is Mbule can take a shot, Rele can’t. Rele wants to collect. As a number 10 he always wants to combine, get a touch and then pass the net, ” Khune said on SABC2.
Meanwhile, Hlompho Kekana who also represented South Africa on 27 occasions times, explained what he is looking at how Mofokeng has grown and became a better.
“I like how is mobile on the ball. Like I said when we saw this kid before, he used to be that kid that likes to do darling, darling on the ball,” he added.
“Now he controls his body shape, move to half spaces, occupy spaces that will hurt any number six.”
