PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza says he’s anticipating complaints from everyone this season due to the hectic football schedule.
The league campaign has only played four rounds and the MTN8 is awaiting the winner while there will also be the 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations finals in Morocco in December, the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup involving South African clubs as well as the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Khoza exclusively told iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo that despite people knowing what they know, they will still complain.
“We are going to have a shortened season because of those tournaments,” Khoza told iDiski Times.
“The season usually ends in June, but now we have to be completed come end of May. Then you have the continental club competitions in which we will have four teams [Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs], and you must complete the domestic competitions, which all have their own window.
“So, now the sponsors cannot activate the normal way because of the compressed program we are going to have this time around. We are going to have complaints from everyone, even though they can see what the problem is. But that’s how it is.”
