Khanyisa Mayo to Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs finally announced the signing of Khanyisa Mayo, just around 72 hours after his shock exit from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad.

The 27-year-old was left out of CR Belouizdad’s squad list for the season and was not seen training with the first team amid whispers of a move away from Algiers.

The Umtata-born player famously confirmed on national radio in August 2024 that Kaizer Chiefs attempted to sign him 24 hours after he had already sealed a move to North Africa.

ONE-YEAR LOAN TO AMAKHOSI

Soon after announcing via social media, Kaizer Chiefs posted the deal’s contract details on their website, including a reaction from the club’s Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.

“Kaizer Chiefs are proud to announce the one-year loan signing of Khanyisa Mayo, who returns to South Africa after a season with CR Belouizdad in Algeria,” Amakhosi confirmed.

“It’s no secret that we wanted to bring Khanyisa to Naturena before his move to Algeria,” said Kaizer Motaung Jr. “He has a proven track record in the league, and we believe he will add significant value to the squad this season when we play in the league, as well as on the continent.

“He joins an select group of athletes who’ve made their families proud by following in their footsteps. We are truly happy to have him here and wish him all the best,” the former Kaizer Chiefs striker concluded.
