Khanye Questions Chiefs’ Line-Up Changes

Posted on November 24, 2025

iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has questioned the Kaizer Chiefs technical team to start Ashley Du Preez in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D opening away defeat to Al-Masry.

The striker started the game but lasted 63 minutes as his side lost the clash 2-1 in Group D to sit in third position. Du Preez has played in five matches across all competitions this season with four coming in the league.

Khanye believes the 28-year-old Du Preez wasn’t ready for such a high-profile match adding that the situation for him feels like a set-up.

“I’m not too sure about the Kaizer Chiefs starting 11, what the coaches were trying to achieve,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“I’m talking about the two co-coaches. You can’t start Du Preez in today’s [Sunday] game with such intensity. How many games has he played in the Betway Premiership?

“Are you exposing that you want to let him go, I’m not too sure. He lacks match fitness for this kind of a game so he’s not going to give you anything. We are talking about a high-profile game.

“Mental readiness and fitness level – you are exposing him; you cannot because he is not ready psychologically because if you are not fit you are not going to think properly or even apply yourself.

“So, I’m not too sure why they started him. I saw him last time missing a goal when they were playing away, someone can blame the boy for that but how many games has he played in the Betway Premiership?

“I mean sometimes he doesn’t even make the 18-man match-day squad, but you are taking him straight from the stands into the starting 11. That’s a set-up and I’m not surprised why the boy wasn’t functioning.”
