Mamelodi Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana has expressed his admiration for youngster Kutlwano Letlhaku who is said to have rejected a new deal from the club as he holds out for a dream move to Europe.
In August 2025, this publication broke the news that the 19-year-old had handed in a transfer request in order to pursue a career in Europe though it was not entertained by Masandawana who earmarked him as an important player for the future.
This publication further reported on two separate bids from an unnamed Portuguese Primeira Liga club which was turned down by Sundowns even after the second bid was said to be worth up to R30 million with add-ons.
As per Mazola Molefe, the Amajita starlet is now considering running down his contract which expires in 18 months or so.
Kekana admitted that he would love to see Letlhaku grow his football career even if it means it’s not at Chloorkop but in the same breath hopes he plays regularly if he moves overseas.
“I love the boy, I just love the boy, and I hope in whatever they deciding about him, it has to benefit both parties because the kid needs to play football regularly,” the former Downs skipper said on SABC Sport.
“And I’d love to see him growing in this industry because he’s a scorer, he knows how to pass, assist and even score but I don’t know if he’s at a stage to move overseas now if he hasn’t been hitting the Mamelodi Sundowns first line-up.
“So, it would be very sad to see him go overseas and come back but it would be very nice to see him going overseas and stay there.”
