Kaze Reserves Special Praise For Chiefs Star

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has spoken about the reasons his side has not been active in the current transfer window.

Amakhosi have been quiet this January, with no official signings and departures confirmed as yet – despite the club being linked with some players.

The Soweto giants are gearing to return to league action with their first assignment of 2026 a Betway Premiership encounter against Golden Arrows at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday, 20 January.

They are currently in fourth place on the standings with 24 points in 13 games four points from top-placed Orlando Pirates, who have announced three arrivals and some departures this month already.

Chiefs are two points from second placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who have also confirmed the signings of three players and they are a point from Sekhukhune United right above them, Babina Noko also having been busy in the transfer market.

Kaze told the media on Monday that they want to give some of the fringe players they acquired at the start of the campaign a chance to play while also not ruling out any activities at all as the window is still a bit far from closing.

“I’m very happy with the squad that we have,” said Kaze.

“We signed practically 12 players at the beginning of the season. And as I said, the struggles that we had in a pre-season which didn’t put especially the new players into very good conditions to play or to understand how we want to play. Now we have had time to rectify that.

“And we’re pretty sure that we’re going to see more quality from everyone, especially from the new players.

“And as well, you know January it’s a tricky period. You need to be careful how you sign players and I’m not saying as well that we’re not signing any player.

“We are looking, if there is an opportunity that we can get, we’ll go get it. The period is ending at the end of the month. But as well, the players that we have now we know that they will compete very well.”
