Kaze Provides Ighodaro Update And Registration Dillema

Posted on September 28, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has hinted Etiosa Ighodaro will be ready for selection after the FIFA international break and shed insight into the registration dilemma for the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Ighodaro, an off-season signing, joining as a free agent after his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns expired, has yet to make his debut after missing out on pre-season due to the transfer dispute between the two club’s and then suffering an injury in training.

“Ighodaro is injured, but the medical department promised us [his imminent return] he started this week to train with the group without contact,” Kaze confirmed.

“We hope after the international break he will be ready to go.”

The likes of Ighodaro, Khanyisa Mayo and Lebogang Maboe will not be available for the next round either, with the next opening registration window available for the group stage proper.

“If I’m not mistaken, Mayo won’t be able to play until the group stage, Ighodaro until the group stage, Maboe as well – but we have other players available, and will help the team,” he confirmed.

“The likes of Mako, Monyane, that were injured. Ndlovu as well – Ethan will be available for selection [in the next round].”
