Kaze Praises Chiefs Duo After Class Performance

Posted on October 26, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has heaped huge praise on duo Etiosa Ighodaro and Glody Lilepo after their CAF Confederation Cup group stage progression.

The Glamour Boys cruised 3-1 on the afternoon following their 0-0 draw against AS Simba in the first leg last week to return to the group stage 11 seasons later.

Speaking to SABC Sport after the match, Kaze lauded Ighodaro and Lilepo who he admits gives his side different options upfront.

“We wanted to try as well to get the front combination to get players who can give that extra pass, players who can deliver on set-pieces, players as well who can shoot,” he said.

“To have a player like Ighodaro in the box that is a striker that is physical in the air, it helps us as well. As well the speed of Lilepo you have different options.

The Burundian mentor also took time to credit Asanele Velebayi and Lebohang Maboe’s cameos.

“They [Velebayi & Maboe] went in very good,” he added.

“It’s those kind of games when you have the advantage it’s easy to introduce new players to give them confidence to build momentum for that.”
