Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has explained the squad rotation against Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup Last 32.
Chiefs made six changes to their starting line-up against Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup encounter at DHL Stadium on Wednesdau.
Amakhosi went 2-0 down inside the first 25 minutes and couldn’t bounce back, only managing to score one goal which was from the penalty spot through Flavio Da Silva.
Chiefs has had a difficult schedule this season which saw them travel to Zambia, return to the country and travel to Free State to face Marumo Gallants before going to Durban to face ZESCO United in the return fixture and from there onto Cape Town.
That seems to have taken it’s toll on them as they made several changes for the team against Stellies ahead of a must-win clash against As Masry in the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday, which raised some eyebrows among fans.
“I would say that it’s the rotation. I would say that you have to do it with all the minutes that the players have put in and all the kilometers that the data shows, all those trips as well,” Kaze told the media.
“Say that it’s a must, the rotation. But you know, it’s as well with the players that started, they are Kaizer Chiefs players, and they are supposed to play those kind of games.
“And if you are Kaizer Chiefs players they need to be able to play against Stellenbosch. And they did everything they could. And now we have to just to look forward.”
