Kaze confirms new face in Kaizer Chiefs coaching team

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has confirmed the club have brought in some coaching reinforcements.

The Glamour Boys are gearing up for a busy second half of the season.

Kaze’s side are competing for the CAF Confederation Cup, Nedbank Cup and the league title.

And now, their Diski Challenge assistant coach has joined the first-team to assist preparing them for their flurry of upcoming matches.

Dillon Sheppard working with Kaizer Chiefs senior team

Dillon Sheppard is assisting co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.

Sheppard was demoted to the Amakhosi Diski Challenge side back in 2024.

He assisted coach Vela Khumalo in the reserve team that won last season’s Diski Challenge.

Now, coach Cedric Kaze has confirmed that Sheppard has been brought in to assist the first team due to their busy 2026 schedule.

The Glamour Boys will play five games in 15 days, including trips to Zambia, Bloemfontein, Durban, Polokwane and Cape Town.

“That’s why even you have seen Mr, coach Dillon Shepherd training the first team because we want as I said to also work on every details to try to get out of that period in a in a very good and positive place,” Kaze said as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

Sheppard’s journey at Naturena

Dillon Sheppard joined Kaizer Chiefs back in 2020 to assist Gavin Hunt.

When Hunt was sacked, the Amakhosi kept Sheppard on who then assisted Stuart Baxter, Molefi Ntseki, Cavin Johnson and Arthur Zwane.

He was eventually moved to the Diski Challenge setup when Nasreddine Nabi joined the club in 2024.

It remains to be seen if Sheppard will help out with the first team beyond their frantic next fortnight of fixtures.
