Kanu Makes Bullish Chippa Statement

Posted on November 26, 2025

Chippa United head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has made a bullish statement that his side will never be relegated despite sitting at the foot of the Betway Premiership table.

Vilakazi took over as the Chilli Boys mentor last month and has been in charge of three matches so far where he has only bagged a point from a possible nine. On Tuesday, his side lost 2-0 to Orlando Pirates to remain at the bottom of the log with seven points in 13 outings.

‘Kanu’ believes his charges just need to start believing in themselves as they are already working hard and are committed which will see them do wonders and keep them afloat.

“I know that it’s unfortunate that I always come for the teams who are fighting relegation, and I’m expected to do the miracles,” said Vilakazi.

“But what I can say is that I still maintain what I said when I came to Chippa and I said that Chippa will never go down, they will never be relegated. The reason I’m saying that is because of the potential that is there in these players. And obviously we needed to align a few areas in terms of aligning their psychological part in terms of believing in themselves.

“We’ve got good youngsters, we’ve got Bonani [Asanele] who played and nearly scored a goal, and he never played in the PSL. He was playing for the Diski [DDC team] and he’s the leading goalscorer. So, once you give them that confidence and they believe in themselves I think they will do wonders.

“With such performances and the hard work and the commitment, I strongly believe that we will do wonders going forward and we will save this team.”
