A handful of Kaizer Chiefs attackers look set to leave as the club’s management assesses their options ahead of the next transfer window.
Kaizer Chiefs boast some of the most exciting young attacking talent in the country.
However, it appears increasingly unlikely that the club will be able to retain all of their emerging stars.
CHIEFS PRODUCT SPOTTED TRAINING WITH PSL RIVALS
Highly rated youngster Camrin Smit made an immediate impression after joining Kaizer Chiefs’ youth structures.
“Camrin Smit (2006) joined Kaizer Chiefs U17 at the beginning of 2023 and started his career at Amakhosi like a house on fire,” Football Stage posted.
“Seven games, five goals, five assists; unfortunately, he suffered an Achilles injury and was out for 13 months. This past weekend, he made his return and scored a brace,” they added.
Despite his long injury layoff, Smit’s goal-scoring return has once again placed him in the spotlight.
The teenage striker has even drawn comparisons to Manchester City and Norway star Erling Haaland due to his physical presence and finishing ability.
Future lies away from Naturena
However, Smit’s future now appears set to lie away from Naturena.
The 19-year-old has been spotted training with Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Midlands Wanderers and is believed to be on the verge of joining their academy.
“19-year-old striker Camrin ‘Haaland’ Smit is now with Motsepe Foundation Championship club Midlands Wanderers’ academy side,” GOAL confirmed.
“Smit marked his return from a long-term injury with a goal during Chiefs’ Under-19 Gauteng Development League match against Kathorus Hyper Academy three months ago,” he added.
AMAKHOSI ATTACKER FACING LIKELY DEPARTURE
Smit may not be the only forward heading for the exit door.
Kaizer Chiefs attacker Tashreeq Morris is also facing an uncertain future at the club.
The former SuperSport United forward has fallen out of favour with current co-coaches Khalil Youssef Ben and Cedric Kaze.
As a result, Morris could be loaned out – or sold – during the upcoming January transfer window.
It now remains to be seen whether Kaizer Chiefs will look to bring in additional attacking reinforcements should these departures be confirmed.
Who should Kaizer Chiefs keep – and offload – in the attacking department?
