Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Messi, Morris, Gavin Hunt

Posted on December 29, 2025

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news wrap looks at Gavin Hunt’s future, a possible exit for two players and teenage star ‘Messi’ who could be a target.

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Hunt heading to the Winelands

According to iDiski Times, Gavin Hunt could soon become head coach of Stellenbosch FC. The Winelands club are without a coach, while Hunt recently left PSL newcomers Durban City.

Smit to leave Kaizer Chiefs

Camrin Smit will leave Kaizer Chiefs despite impressing the technical staff. The teenager spent 13 months on the sidelines with a serious achilles injury. Another player on the opposite end of the career spectrum, Tashreeq Morris, could also leave Naturena after failing to secure a regular place in the first team. The 31-year-old has zero appearances in the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership campaign.

Orlando Pirates to battle Chiefs for ‘Messi’

According to Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are two of four PSL sides interested in signing 17-year-old star Cazwill Williams from Thames FC. Stellenbosch and TS Galaxy are also keen on the player from the fourth tier of SA football. Williams is nicknamed ‘Messi’ because of his confidence, pace and dribbling ability off the wings.

Bafana face D-Day against Zimbabwe

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana needs a point from their battle with Zimbabwe on matchday 3 of AFCON in order to qualify for the knockout stages, provided that Egypt avoids defeat against Angola. Hugo Broos’ men lost 1-0 to Egypt in a match containing several contentious decisions. Egypt won and scored a dubious penalty in first-half stoppage time, while South Africa was denied what seemed a certain penalty in the dying embers of the second half.
