Kaizer Chiefs to release players from 40-man squad

Posted on September 16, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has admitted that Amakhosi’s current squad is simply too big.

The Tunisian tactician revealed that the Amakhosi’s oversized squad is set for a reshuffle, with the axe expected before the closure of the current transfer window on Monday, September 22.

Kaizer Chiefs have been one of the busiest teams in the Betway Premiership, bringing in 11 new names, but that has left the squad bloated to nearly 40 players.

“Look at the squad we have, the squad is very big, almost 40 players, which means we need to be careful in how we select the players,” Nabi told journalists in the pre-match conference before facing Sekhukhune United.

“But we’re sure these recruitments will give us the consistency we need during the whole season.

“It’s true that the squad is big and the technical staff, management, the sporting director, Kaizer Jnr is working on options of try offload the squad, to give some players, who didn’t have consistency or time to get more game-time, to other teams,” the Kaizer Chiefs mentor added.

“Also some young players need to get experienced needed for the PSL, at other clubs, everyone is aware of that and is aware of what will take place,” Nabi concluded on his Amakhosi squad.
