Kaizer Chiefs to pull the plug on underutilized 31-year-old striker?

Posted on January 9, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs are likely to part ways with striker Tashreeq Morris at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old made just one appearance this season for the Glamour Boys. The club has signed three strikers, meaning Morris is down the pecking order and will likely not get minutes.

His agent, Glynn Binkin said the club has not tabled a new offer for the ex-SuperSport United striker.

“Tashreeq (Morris). We haven’t heard yet from Chiefs as to what they would like to do.” Binkin told Soccer Laduma.

“You know. So, I’m sure that discussion will take place in the coming days, I’m sure.”

Kaizer Chiefs never had faith in Morris

Morris was signed last year during the January transfer window after impressing for SuperSport. He played a few matches, but an injury saw him out of action for several weeks. After that, he never really featured for Chiefs and with three new strikers playing ahead of him, his days at Naturena are numbered.

Binkin, who is also Brandon Petersen’s agent, told the same publication that Kaizer Chiefs were yet to extend the contract of their captain.

“In terms of Brandon (Petersen), we are in discussions with them,” Glynn Binkin, Petersen’s agent, told Soccer Laduma.

“They have an option [clause] anyway on the existing contract. So it’s finishing on 30th June 2026, but they have an option for a year. But we are speaking about a new contract for him anyway.”

Kaizer Chiefs are likely to extend Petersen’s contract but Morris will likely be sold or loaned out by the end of the season.

Was Morris given a chance?
